Modern foreign films are a hotbed of potentially great roles for women airmax 97, and in many cases the catalyst for worldwide exposure. Strong Roles for Women in Modern Foreign Films
Pan's Labyrinth is a modern example par excellence Air Max Lebron 8, with the 3 strongest roles all going to women. Young Ophelia (Ivana Baquero) takes the lead, her youth and naivety serving to emphasize the horror and brutality of the cruel world around her. Her mother (Ariadna Gil) and the brave servant Mercedes (Maribel Verdu) are also given very important roles which further represent feelings of helplessness, combined with the strong moral backbone of the film. Whilst all around them men are fighting, seeing the film through the perspectives of these three women humanizes the drama.

Great Films Not Nominated for a Best Film Oscar
Amelie gave a quirky starring role to French actress Audrey Tautou, and in so doing catapulted her to fame. The German film Run Lola Run did the same thing for Franka Potente. Krzysztof Kieslowski's feted trilogy Three Colors: Red, White and Blue was carried by the central performances of each films leading female actor, providing strong roles for Irene Jacob (Red) Juliet Binoche (Blue) and Julie Delpy (White). Atmospheric British film Morvern Callar provided Samantha Morton with a mesmerising lead role, whilst off the wall New Zealand comedy Eagle vs Shark did the same for Loren Horsley.
New Zealand's director extraordinaire Peter Jackson put Kate Winslett and Melanie Lynskey center stage for his breakthrough film Heavenly Creatures, and Danish director Lars von Trier found starring roles for Bjork (Dancer in the Dark) and Nicole Kidman (Dogville) within his strange oeuvre of films. The best ever Bond girl Michelle Yeoh starred at the forefront of dozens of Hong Kong martial arts films, before sealing her breakthrough to the world stage with Crouching Tiger Hidden Dragon. Her co-star in that film, Ziyi Zhang, has followed a similar career trajectory, with strong roles continuing in Hero and House of Flying Daggers.
Big Stars Debut in Foreign Films
Hollywood has brought us stars that twinkle so brightly in the firmament they can shine in sundry assorted roles, but the really strong, evocative parts for women still remain few and far between. Come Oscar night, there are often female nominees up for best lead in roles that appear to be little more than supporting. Despite fine performances from talented actors, it's sometimes difficult to find a woman in a truly great center stage role. It is little wonder that last year's leading female Oscar recipient was the French actress Marion Cotillard. Her performance as Edith Piaf in the French film La Vie en Rose was stunning.
