In 1950, Alex Wagner, Sr., started as a mason contractor building house foundations, fireplaces and stoops. By the mid-1960s, the business had grown to the point where he was now building large industrial manufacturing buildings and mid-rise commercial buildings.
In 1966 he purchased his first concrete pump for a 12-story building he was building. He soon realized that many contractors, would rather rent concrete pumps, than purchase them. In 1967, he started his concrete pump rental business by purchasing two more pumps strictly for rent.
By 1974 the concrete pump rentals were so successful that we incorporated into the now "ALEXANDER WAGNER CO.,CONCRETE PUMP PARTS, INC.," and abandoned the contracting portion of the business.
In 1981 we became dealers for Elba concrete pumps and started to do sales of concrete pumps and concrete pump parts. We also started servicing other customers' concrete pumping equipment.
In 1983 we started "ARAF COMPANY INC.," to manage all of our concrete pump parts and repair services. Since then, ARAF COMPANY INC., has been supplying Original Equipment Manufacturers "OEM" spare parts and successfully negotiated an agreement with ELBA-WERK GmbH to be the principle supplier of all Elba spare parts for the USA and Canada.
In 1986, we became dealers for the Putzmeister/Thomsen product lines and thereby enlarged our concrete pumping service to include fireproofing pumps and plaster pumps.
We currently have the largest concrete pump rental fleet in the New York metropolitan area, renting almost everything from 10 yard per hour trailer pumps for block fill and grouting to 260 yard per hour boom pumps. We are also the largest supplier of plaster pumps and fireproofing pumps with a rental fleet of units ranging from 2 gallons per minute to 21 gallons per minute.
In 2005 we introduced Telebelt truck mounted conveyors to our rental fleet. This equipment expands our capabilities from moving only concrete on the job site to moving dry construction materials such as sand, stone and fill as well.
Our company has been servicing the construction industry of over 60 years, concrete pump rentals for 40 years and plaster pump rentals for 15 years.
