Loving Joe Kapp says that fights just often
sports is a kids' game, Invented to give to many people a lot of fun. the minute a player loses sight of that fact, He's in trouble. Like the mn Vikings in the Super Bowl. We forgot we were supposed to be enjoying ourselves out there. We forgot up to now a kids' game, And we ended up playing in a redwood forest. Every time I looked up I could see those red tree trunks face to face with me and on top of me and all around me. We didn't stay loose and have funin tha permanent Viking wayand we played a poor game and they played a great one,/p>
By having fun I don't mean goosing each other and telling dirty jokes in the huddlealthough a little male humor doesn't hurt either. I mean doing your absolute best and enjoying it, Because if you're doing your best you'll get a thorough enjoying it. And if you're doing all your best, Then collecting isn't so crucial. A baseball isn't round, And you don't always have control of whether you win or lose, But you do have complete control of your own effort and your own mind. If you can buy enough ballplayers on your own club thinking this way, You can win a good deal,[link widoczny dla zalogowanych],/p>
i haven't missed many football games in my life, Going entirely back to high schoollike most pros, I've enjoyed cracked ribs and a punctured lung and a torn knee and separated shoulder and half a dozen other injuriesand I've also never missed a postgame party. I've never missed the fun. I've known players who get a little injury and rush off to the hospital and don't make the party. half truths! certainly not me. I never missed one and I never will miss one. You play out there together and you successful or unsuccessful together and you're all involved in this effort together and after the game you should party together,/p>
nevertheless, There are certain players who will confirm that I never miss a party, period period, And if that they spread that propaganda, It's all right with memostly because the truth is. I even showed up at the annual banquet of the Fellowship of Christian Athletes this year, At their note. At first i was thinking some terrible mistake had been made. Certainly I'm a sterling athlete, Although I'm accomplishment renowned for my piety. I was small uneasy until I spotted Bobby Layne, The former qb, then I felt like I belonged. when I saw Dick Butkus, the way we wish breathed easier. I went almost him and I said, "Whose ticket did you steal so you can get in, And he was quoted saying, "the trend is to go over in the corner and leave us humans alone,[link widoczny dla zalogowanych], Mutual consider, it is precisely what we have. When people ask me if Butkus is the foremost linebacker I've faced, i will not answer. I hate to single out individual opponents. throughout the pro game, all of them are good. I won't even choose an allopponent team. I rip these ballots up. they're all good. I'll bet you a cigar that you won't name one bad football player in pro ball. You forfeit,/p>
I'm aware of my own status, And I love this website. trying to find called "One half of a collision want the other, The adjectives an individual read about me are "boring, "tough, "unwavering" And at times "stupid, (this is when we lose; if we win, i'm a "Great renegade,) People take one look at the scars on my face and they assume that I spend most of my offhours prowling around trying to get fights, When truthfully that the fights are prowling around looking for me, And sometimes they find me. I look at myself as a gentle, Funloving, private person, But you can be all this stuff and still get in fightsespecially if you don't back down, And I don't. You won't see me not having enough bounds to avoid a little physical contact with a linebacker, And you won't see me ducking out of the question when somebody wants to tangle. So I've been known to get in an occasional ttette,/p>
Maybe it goes back to my Chicano childhood, and consequently machismo. Machismo would mean manliness, A determination to act like a man, And if a kid didn't have machismo in the polyglot local neighborhoods of the San Fernando and Salinas valleys in California, Where I grew up, he previously it tough. When I was little I saw guys lying in their own blood at the corner of Mission Boulevard and hollister Street in San Fernando. once in a while the Mexicans would fight the Anglos; Sometimes it is considered the Mexicans and the blacks from Pacoima. They had gang fights going all the time and even an intermittent shootout or knifing,/p>
When we moved to Salinas in the california lettuce belt, We lived in a housing show with pickers, Okies, Arkies, Blacks and whites and browns and purples. In the fifth grade a bigger kid called me "A dirty philippine, And at first I didn't trouble him. however when I got home I brooded on what he had said. My sense of justice was annoyed. My mothers, florencia Garcia Kapp, is regarded as MexicanAmerican, But my father is of German descent; outcome, At unappealing, i could possibly only be half of what that kid had called me. So I went back and found him and really whaled him. I didn't win the fight, But I got in a few licks. that had been machismo, Not back up down, Acting staying man. I think I violated the code of machismo only one time: in the seventh grade, When two guys took my basketball game and rolled it down the hill. I are worthy of whaled them, way too, But one analysts was Bob Sartwell, the simplest athlete in Salinas, Six feet tall and 180 pounds, and i also chickened out. I've never reliable down since. On which in turn dry, Dusty the game of basketball court in Salinas,[link widoczny dla zalogowanych], I would move around me and say to myself, "extremely well, If I'm gonna win this game I'm gonna have to kick a persons butt, That was valuable practicing NFL football,/p>
I went to the University of California on an athletic scholarship or grant, Mostly for my football,[link widoczny dla zalogowanych], But if you have not heard of me in that connection, perhaps you are excused. I arrived at Cal under the mistaken impression that I was the most popular athlete in town, But I was easily disabused. Those bigcity athletes had moves I'd never envisioned. In football you had to play both ways it had been, And I started at qb on the freshman football team. The coaches didn't know where you can play me on defense, So I gamed corner. Against UCLA's frosh team I had to coat a pass catcher who was a star hurdler. I played him about 18 yards deep and still he caught three touchdown passes over my head and UCLA beat us 320. I was never so embarrassed in my life. We didn't get a single point on offense and I permit them to have three touchdowns over my head! I was wanting to quit football, But the coach talked me from the jawhorse. He let me play outside linebacker during the last game against Stanford, And my lack of talent didn't pop up so conspicuously there,/p>
Cal was going through some tough times back back then. The Golden Bears hadn't won a Pacific Coast consultation title in years. In my sophomore year we won three golf games, And in my junior year we won two lower that. when my senior year came around we were classed as humpties, And we opened the season by losing university of the Pacific, having Dick Bass, And then to the state of michigan State. Halfback Jack Hart and I were cocaptains and we sat down for a little talk and second straight loss. "genuinely is it, guy, Jack supposed. "We're either gonna turn it from everyone right now or we're gonna have another year like the last two,/p>
