did physicians by West Houston Medical Center save James Wark? They accustom ice packs to cool his body apt 91 degrees.
Inducing hypothermia slows down a patient's head so that it requires fewer oxygen. That allows the oxygen to work to vital organs that might otherwise shut down.

Acting on directions from doctors, the paramedics then began cooling Wark's body with ice packs and administering anti-paralytic medications to stop him from shivering, Muller said. When he arrived at the hospital, doctors continued to lower his body temperature.
