Eachus named Patriot League Player of the Week
Colgate University football junior Nate Eachus of Drums has been named the Patriot League Offensive Player of the Week, joining teammates Zach Smith and Evan Colborne as the league's top players of the week following the Raiders' 34-3 rout of previously unbeaten Georgetown on Saturday.
Eachus, who was also named to the Walter Payton Jersey Award Watch List on Monday, was named the PL Offensive Player of the Week following his season-high 214 yards and four touchdowns in Colgate's win over Georgetown. He also hauled in four receptions for 54 yards to total 268 all-purpose yards on the afternoon. He scored all four of his touchdowns from short yardage, putting Colgate up 10-3 late in the first half and adding three more scores to seal the win in the second half.
The Hazleton Area High School graduate has rushed for at least 100 yards and scored at least one touchdown in every game this season, and leads the Football Championship Subdivision with 160 rushing yards per game for the year. He recorded his fifth 200-yard rushing day and has 2,491 yards and 33 touchdowns on the ground in his career. On Monday, Eachus was named FCS Offensive Player of the Week for the first time.
Smith, the Patriot League Defensive Player of the Week and FCS National Defensive Lineman of the Week tallied five tackles, three sacks and two forced fumbles to lead a stout Colgate defense.
Colborne was named Special Teams Player of the Week after connecting on both of his field goal attempts and all four of his extra point tries.
