Friday Injury Update: Ryan Mathews, Beanie Wells Jersey, and more
As we do every Friday morning, it’s time to rundown all of the fantasy-relevant injuries heading into Week 3.
Let’s jump right in, starting in San Diego where an injury to the starter means yet another unheralded backup RB has significant fantasy value.
In San Diego, Ryan Mathews is still limited by ankle injury he suffered last week. And unfortunately for Mathews owner, the word “high” has been placed in front of “ankle” in many of the reports I’ve read. As we all know, high ankle sprains are not good and can be tough to recover from, especially for running backs. He is expected to be inactive for Sunday, so I’d make alternative plans.
One good plan would be Mike Tolbert, who already has 2 TDs this year and will be getting the carries in place of Mathews. Tolbert should value all year as a goalline threat at a minimum. If Mathews proves to be injury prone or the ankle problem lingers, Tolbert could really have some nice value because the Chargers will definitely give their running backs opportunities to score touchdowns.
Mathews’ and Tolbert’s teammates Malcom Floyd is also on the injury report but he practiced in full on Thursday.
In Arizona, Steve Breaston was only a limited practice participant yesterday because of a knee injury. The injury is not considered serious though and he should be fine.
The bigger injury news in Arizona is that Beanie Wells Jersey should finally be ready to make his 2010 debut.
Head over to MSF Fantasy Sports to find out how much Beanie Wells Jersey is expected to play Sunday and whether or not you should start him, plus injury updates on Andre Johnson, Percy Harvin, Steven Jackson, and many more.
