Long before "The Secret", a good 50 years before Anthony Robbins or Dr. Wayne Dyer,Jordan Retro 11, Wallace D. Wattles was blazing the self-help trails with his books on the riches of life. In 1910, he wrote his book "The Science of Getting Rich", which he says is a "practical manual, not textbook theory" and "an exact science… in which failure is impossible". He credits the ideas to Hindu origin and says in his preface, "… if you wish to reap the practical fruits… read this book and do exactly as it tells you to do".
"Ok, then, I will", I thought. I'm in search of fruit… and if this is where "The Secret" came from, I'm all in.
In a competitive mindset, nothing is secure and nothing is permanent. Nothing is ever "yours"… and can be taken away at any time. No wonder then, I was almost always fearful and frustrated. I never felt like I "owned" anything, because I was sure that someone would take it away from me at any moment. I absolutely believed there was a limited supply of opportunities and I had to fight tooth and nail to get them.
Spoken like a true "lacker". Fear of lack. It's in your mind and it's not the truth.
Your dictionary.com's definition of abundance: "a great supply; more than sufficient quantity"
Do you think rich? Do you see all the possibilities for prosperity and contentment available to you? Do you know for a fact that you will get all that you want out of your career and your personal life?
To get it all,Jordan 13s, you must think you will. Getting everything you want starts in that mind of yours.
And within the first 50 pages, I got it. My career until now flashed in front of my eyes. My career mindset… my personal mindset… will never be the same.
Clients tell me "I don't have enough money. I'm not happy in my career and I can't seem to get where I want to go."
No competition? What do you mean? Every other employee, every other person in the world for that matter,Jordan V.2 Grown Shoes, is trying to get a piece of this Universe, right? And they all want what I want… and I want what they want…? So, how can we ALL have it?
- Wallace D. Wattles
Wattles explains that if you are competing for something that is already created, you are coming from a limited supply mindset. In other words, you believe that there is not enough to go around. So, if you get the job, for example, someone else will not… and vice versa. Well, this means there are limited opportunities that can only be "taken away" from each other.
I've been there. I spent 10 years basically frustrated and unhappy in my career. I had successes… but, they always seemed so fleeting. So temporary. I couldn't get a lasting feeling of contentment. My times of feeling abundant were way too few and far between. And in retrospect, I see now, it was all my mindset.
"You must get rid of the thought of competition. You are to create, not to compete for what is already created . . . You are to become a creator, not a competitor! You are going to get what you want, but in such a way that when you get it, every other person will have more than they have now."
I was so caught up in that fear and frustration, I wasn't open to creating anything. Although I am in a "creative" business, I wasn't visualizing creating my own opportunities. I was completely dependent on co
So often, especially when we are feeling down, we don't feel like we'll ever "get ahead" and we have a hard time seeing the possibilities of abundance that are there for us. And so, a cycle begins. We don't like our job, we don't see any changes coming anytime soon, we feel low, we see everyone around us doing better than us, we feel even lower, we aren't open to any possibilities that the Universe has for us… and we sink even lower…Sound familiar?
That's good news then, isn't it? It's all in your belief and point of view. It's your mind, you control it. The bad news is, on a daily basis, most of us come from a perspective of lack… rather than abundance.
