Help me correctly ID and label a number of fashion styles
The primary problem you'll run into is the different ingroup and outgroup terminology. one forum I read, wheat berry anatomy called "Streetwear" Is what mother board types would call "Hipster" despite the fact that "Streetwear" Is a business term for hiphop fashion,/p>
On another forum which is a bit older in group, There's talk about "city" (Slim works with, Grays and blues, and also so on.) As one opposite of "trad" (New the united kingdomt gentry), yet,yet somehow "urban" in other contexts is innercity black styles, the point at which slim suits is "downtown, individuals same "trads" might be called "Preppy" By a lot of other people, except for those for whom "Preppy" Is obtaining at abercrombie and Fitch and not Hot Topic,/p>
(As a data matter, It's interesting to note that unlike only a decade ago, You can't search by "picture" At Hot question.)
Even your own example has the same problems conditional on who you ask, What scene they will be in, And when they happened upon the term, "emo" Can vary from "Hipster trucker less difficult" that can "Goth eye shadow, Nevermind that the music comes out of punk,/p>
I think more than reading a guide you need to do conversations about fashion. you will probably find StyleForum and SuperFuture good for hipstertype streetwear and denim. i'm not sure where people talk about black urban style because it's not my thing,[link widoczny dla zalogowanych], Although Hypebeast is probably a good starting point,/p>

(And be careful with Vice Do's and Don'ts if you just aren't already used to what they're going on about, They can switch between sarcasm and sincerity before you observe anything's up.)

For the most important retro/subculture styles, Googling the key terms and phrases (As possibly emo) + "styles" Should yield some pretty illustrative examples to help you separate them. for example, Googling or yields much different results than or As for its influence has become extraordinarily pervasive; a whole lot other styles/subcultures (As well as current fashions) Have repurposed things of punk style for decades now. The absolute best cure for this is to try to soak it all in. Experience all these subcultures to the greatest extent possible. go through it firsthand. Listen to the music, look into the web, end up in clubs/dance nights/shows. Visit the areas where those people congregate to investigate what they're wearing. For fashion mainly, Do this all when you finally travel as well, Since pattern migrates,/p>
Read text books yes,[link widoczny dla zalogowanych], publications! About the origins of various subcultures. for example, there's a lot of books about the origins of punk in the late 70s. Once you get the foundation of that, research about ska/mod history, Or look for about indie/college rock. ( Is the best possible resource for that.) Then read about emo there's for that too. and similar matters. Even read their blogs occasionally. Expand your vocabulary and build your foundation of data,[link widoczny dla zalogowanych],/p>
aside from that, Listen and absorb noiselessly make mental notes. Maybe this makes me a poseur, But in discussions daytoday I notice common touchstones in musical influences or eras, And things of the particular nature. I will often go home and download a tonne of that band's music just to realise that's about. It measurably better informs my writing than just taking their word for it. It are sometimes a lot of work, But i think it pays off. really, ever since the subcultures you mention have a strong musical thread, this tends to help you as well. Look at what those bands were wearing and how their scene was outfit to see where trends start. Understanding the broader historical context would really give you perspective which areas of the body were in vogue in various areas? How does fashion be used for class/race? That stuff sounds exceptional, And you could apply that information to put it into perspective for the readers, And be better able to predict what's coming,/p>
regardless, I've the approach that it's more helpful to describe (as an example) What something may seem like, instead of being (Like many testers) Compare it with works, Or thought of genre or classification that will do the explaining I'm supposed to do. I think rogues approach is a bit elitist, In it can easily assume a lot about the reader,/p>
Not that I'm the perfect far from it! it's hard! I guess I'm saying that knowing these things is vital, But shouldn't certainly become your vocabulary. If anything they can be something extra so that you can pass your knowledge on to the reader,/p>
